Stirred Up Soup

My photo
Hi, I'm Mama Soup. I am the home manager for this crazy clan and I have made it my personal mission to record, here on this blog, our attempts at simplifying our life. I am usually wearing an apron and either cooking up some treat or thinking about what I can cook. I also love to paint, jog and drink hot tea. Welcome and thanks for visiting.

Happy Twins

They are so freak'n cute I can't stand it! To top it all off, they were on different sides of the crib when I laid them down and when I came back they were spooning :)

Just wanted to add that after my grandmother (dad's side) saw this picture her quote was, "Are they really that fat? They must really like that titty milk!"

Seriously, that is my heritage. Explains a lot, huh?

Men and Cars

Jonah: "I wish we had a garage"
Momma: "Why is that?"
Jonah: "So we could take care of your car."

The implication is something that any good mother of 4 just cringes to hear. Seriously, the state of my car is the LAST thing on my mind. Men and Cars! *huff*

Why was I born?

On the car ride home from school today, in between discussions about flutes and french fries (separate discussions) Jonah asks, "Why was I born?"
I did the appropriate deflection, "why do you think?" but it didn't work.
"Will you tell me please?" he asked.
"Because Momma and Dada wanted a little boy," I said.
Without hesitation he replied, "I am NOT little."

At least that turned his attention:)

Best Bedtime

As I'm tucking him in.....

Me: "Good night Buddy, I love you."

Jonah: "I love you too Mama! I had fun today and I couldn't have done it without you."

It doesn't get any better than that!

The twins - smiling!

Yes, can you believe it. They are both smiling at the same time. I caught them in a happy moment (not that they are unhappy babies), but they were both in very playful moods. They are starting to acknowledge each other more and more and almost seem to be playing with each other at times. It is just so darn cute!

Dentist

Jonah had his first dentist appointment today. He did excellent. The dentist sang songs to him the whole time and told stories about tickling his teeth and dragons (or something like that). I was slightly distracted since Nathan had to work and the twins came to the appointment as well. I can not believe that I am saying this, but the whole thing was a breeze. Elias fused for a moment but then started to get into the dentist's sining and forgot he was upset. Bebe just looked around and smiled at all the nurses that passed by.

Jonah had no cavities and got all of his teeth cleaned and flossed. They asked if I floss and brush his teeth every night, to which I had to say, "no." Which is the truth. I do brush his teeth twice a day, but flossing is a whole other ball game. She gave me a sigh and said that I really needed to do that for the health of my baby. Yes, she actually called Jonah, "your baby," and I know that she was well aware that she was pulling on my heart strings. So, I supposed we will start flossing regularly. I always mean to do it but by bed time it's importance seems to fall lower and lower on the list.

Jonah got to pick out a toy car after he was done and was pretty excited about that. I think it made the whole thing tolerable for him. Nathan showed up to the appointment at the end (as he was trying to come help with the twins between work meetings). He asked Jonah if he wanted to come back tomorrow. Jonah simply said, "yes, but only to get another car, not to clean my teeth."
